The trouble is I don't believe my unbelief.
People talk about the courage of condemned men walking to the place of execution: sometimes it needs as much courage to walk with any kind of bearing towards another person's habitual misery.
It is always of interest to know what strikes another human being as remarkable.
And when we love our sin then we are damned indeed.
One forgets so quickly one's own youth.
