When I turned 40 I thought, 'I have to really make sure I have time to myself,' because it's very overwhelming to be taking care of so many people.

My golden time is after I drop the kids off at school. I'm usually working on my website (lifestyle site Goop) and checking emails but I try to do something at least once a week - like a facial or a visit to the osteopath - something to bring myself back into my body.

The work gets more difficult as you get older. You learn more and you gather more experiences, there is deeper pain and higher highs.

I'm a lot more selective with work these days. My perfect plan is to do one movie every nine months. It would have to be a project that I found inspiring. It would also have to include other actors and a director I am inspired to work with.

I'm looking forward to becoming older and quieter.

When I had kids I sort of went into a hole for a few years and I think when I came out of that, I started to really become myself and know what works on me.

I cannot function if there is a physical mess around me. If everything is falling apart, I go on a cleaning frenzy.
