Well, I wouldn't say that I was in the great class, but I had a great time while I was trying to be great.

There has been a lot of talk lately about the burdens of the Presidency. Decisions that the President has to make often affect the lives of tens of millions of people around the world, but that does not mean that they should take longer to make. Some men can make decisions and some cannot. Some men fret and delay under criticism. I used to have a saying that applies here, and I note that some people have picked it up, If you cant stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

In my opinion eight years as president is enough and sometimes too much for any man to serve in that capacity.

The United States has become great because we, as a people, have been able to work together for great objectives even while differing about details.

I have little patience with people who take the Bill of Rights for granted. The Bill of Rights, contained in the first ten amendments to the Constitution, is every American's guarantee of freedom.

We must have strong minds, ready to accept facts as they are.

When you have to deal with a beast, you have to treat him as a beast. It is most regrettable but nevertheless true.
