My mom and I were super close when I was a kid, her and I sort of ran off from her ex-husband. It wasn't such a good time for us and I remember listening to The Distillers with her. One time I actually asked her, 'Mom, can I shave my head into a mohawk?'

we are to be brought through the fire, not left in it. and you know what? to anyone that ever told you that you're no good... they're no better.

Sometimes, being happy or being nice can leave me feeling a bit hung out to dry. Especially if everyone else who I'm around is way more guarded.

For something to be great, there has to be some kind of trial or some type of struggle that actually makes it special or valuable to you. Otherwise, anything could be easily taken for granted.
