Personally I do not believe in a national agency devoted only to the negro blind because in spirit and principle I am against all segregation, and the blind already have difficulties enough without being cramped and harassed by social barriers.

We bereaved are not alone. We belong to the largest company in all the world--the company of those who have known suffering.

Happiness does not come from without, it comes from within

There is no blindness more insidious, more fatal that this race for profit.

The breakage and agony rending us today will be our salvation if they drive us by new routes to meet it. No one can proxy for us a masterpiece of loving or experience for us the rapture of art or launch for us book ships freighted with sweet bread to strengthen man. As of old we must be our own seers, musicians and explorers, and to an extent vaster than ever before.

Worse than being blind would be to be able to see but not have any vision.

The power of effecting changes for the better is within ourselves, not in the favorableness of circumstances.
