Life hath quicksands, Life hath snares!

It was a high counsel that I once heard given to a young person, - always do what you are afraid to do.

Every great poem is in itself limited by necessity, but in its suggestions unlimited and infinite.

But the nearer the dawn the darker the night, And by going wrong all things come right. Things have been mended that were worse, and the the worse, the nearer they are to mend.

The greatest grace of a gift, perhaps, is that it anticipates and admits of no return.
