You cannot be afraid to present yourself. And sometimes that takes practice. If you're not comfortable with public speaking - and nobody starts out comfortable, you have to learn how to be comfortable - practice. I cannot overstate the importance of practicing. Get some close friends or family members to help evaluate you, or somebody at work that you trust.

I would not have imagined being asked to be Secretary of State, it was a great honor to serve with President Obama in his cabinet.

I don't think that strategically it is smart to begin cutting your options when the other side does not move at all.

I would like to save lives. Now you know, the gun lobby will say, "You can't stop everybody." And I would agree with that: You can't stop everybody. Isn't it worth stopping as many as possible, saving as many lives as we can? And I think comprehensive background checks and trying to keep guns outta the wrong hands would help us do that.

I intend to be a leader of America that people can count on, both here at home and around the world, to make decisions that will further peace and prosperity, but also stand up to bullies, whether they're abroad or at home.

Everyone has some dysfunction in their families. They have to deal with it. You don't walk away if you love someone. You help the person.

If you're a realist, you know that people have different roles to play in politics, economics, and this is an important role, but I do think that there has to be an understanding of how what happens here on Wall Street has such broad consequences not just for the domestic but the global economy, so more thought has to be given to the process and transactions and regulations so that we don't kill or maim what works, but we concentrate on the most effective way of moving forward with the brainpower and the financial power that exists here.
