[Donald Trump] has really started his political activity based on this racist lie that our first black president was not an American citizen. There was absolutely no evidence for it, but he persisted, he persisted year after year, because some of his supporters, people that he was trying to bring into his fold, apparently believed it or wanted to believe it.

Such pushy people, the school union chiefs.It's almost not worth the campaign donations. Almost.

What I am proposing is that we invest from the middle out and the ground up, not the top down. That is not going to work.

If you see bigotry, oppose it.

At a time of change and challenge at home and abroad, these investments will enhance the security of Americans, assure the future American leadership, and help build the foundations of peace, stability, and prosperity in the years ahead.

One thing we know for sure is that change is certain. Progress is not. Progress depends on the choices we make today for tomorrow and on whether we meet our challenges and protect our values.

Every political contest is hard, that's part of the DNA in America. We make it really tough to run for and hold the highest and hardest job in our country.
