I would like to save lives. Now you know, the gun lobby will say, "You can't stop everybody." And I would agree with that: You can't stop everybody. Isn't it worth stopping as many as possible, saving as many lives as we can? And I think comprehensive background checks and trying to keep guns outta the wrong hands would help us do that.

Women have always been the primary victims of war. Women lose their husbands, their fathers, their sons in combat. Women often have to flee from the only homes they have ever known. Women are often the refugees from conflict and sometimes, more frequently in today's warfare, victims. Women are often left with the responsibility, alone, of raising the children.

One of the best investments we can make is to give our kids the ingredients they need to develop in the first five years of life.

If there are issues, if there's wrongdoing, people have to be held accountable and we have to try to deter future bad behavior.

I understand that Donald's [Trump] been strongly supported by the NRA. The gun lobby's on his side. They're running millions of dollars of ads against me.

I've gone to work, I've raised a child, and I've spent 30 years trying to better the lives of children and families. But I often return to one thing I said way back then - that politics is the art of making possible what appears to be impossible.
