I care deeply about women's rights. I have been an outspoken advocate for them for many years and as secretary of state I carried that message around the world because empowering women, providing for women's rights, their full participation in society, politics, the economy is not only a matter of individuals being able to chart their own futures. It's good for democracy and it's good for peace and prosperity.
Hillary ClintonOne of my goals upon becoming Secretary of State was to take diplomacy out of capitals, out of government offices, into the media, into the streets of countries.
Hillary ClintonI think we're all safer when the police respect the communities they're supposed to serve, and the communities respect the law.
Hillary ClintonFrom the theft of confidential cables to 21st century protest movements, to development breakthroughs that have the potential to change millions of lives, we are all in uncharted territory.
Hillary ClintonIf companies try to leave our country to avoid paying their fair share, if they try to outsource jobs, they're going to have to give back every tax break they ever received in our country.
Hillary ClintonI'm not going to let the government make a profit out of lending money for people to go to college. So we're going to really change this. I see it as an investment, not an expense, and I'm going to treat it that way.
Hillary ClintonI think what Secretary Ash Carter is seeing, and I'm glad he is, is that we got to get NATO back working for the common defense. We've got to do more to support our partners in NATO, and we have to send a very clear message to Putin that this kind of belligerence, that this kind of testing of boundaries will have to be responded to. The best way to do that is to put more armor in, put more money from the Europeans in so they're actually contributing more to their own defense.
Hillary ClintonStop-and-frisk was found to be unconstitutional and, in part, because it was ineffective. It did not do what it needed to do.
Hillary ClintonIt is difficult finding intelligence that is actionable in a lot of these places, but we have to keep trying.
Hillary ClintonI think we've got to look at corporate law. Back in the day when I studied it, there were different constituencies that were to be served, and I think there was a real wrong turn about 20 to 25 years ago when the theory began to be promoted that your highest duty - in fact, some would argue, your only duty - is to maximize shareholder return. I just don't buy it. And it wasn't the original underpinnings of the legal theory of corporate law.
Hillary ClintonI feel strongly that the Supreme Court needs to stand on the side of the American people, not on the side of the powerful corporations and the wealthy.
Hillary ClintonWe should be breaking down barriers not building walls. We're not going to succeed by dividing this country between us and them. You know, to be great, we can't be small. We can't lose what made America great in the first place.
Hillary ClintonIn nearly every religion I am aware of, there is a variation of the golden rule. And even for the non-religious, it is a tenet of people who believe in humanistic principles.
Hillary ClintonWe're making progress. Our military is assisting in Iraq. And we're hoping that within the year we'll be able to push ISIS out of Iraq and then, you know, really squeeze them in Syria.
Hillary ClintonAmong the most striking things that I have learned is how much we have in common. I've sat down with people everywhere, discussing what was in their hearts and on their minds. And it doesn't take long to find commonality, which is often overlooked, ignored, dismissed, and rejected otherwise.
Hillary ClintonI have generally not responded to sexism if it's about me. And I have responded if it's about somebody else, because if women in general are being degraded, are being dismissed, then I can respond in a way that demonstrates I'm not taking it personally but I'm really serious about rejecting that kind of behavior.
Hillary ClintonI have a lot of experience dealing with classified material, starting when I was on the Senate Armed Services Committee going into the four years as secretary of state.
Hillary ClintonIf you get arrested, you`re supposed to know why you`re arrested. So, Freddie Gray should have known why he was arrested. His friends, his family, his community, they should have known what he was charged with, why he was arrested. And the police should have come out with that right away.
Hillary ClintonSenator Obama's support among hardworking Americans - white Americans - is weakening.
Hillary ClintonI understand that Donald's [Trump] been strongly supported by the NRA. The gun lobby's on his side. They're running millions of dollars of ads against me.
Hillary ClintonHow do we prevent attacks? How do we protect our people?I think we've got to have an intelligence surge, where we are looking for every scrap of information.
Hillary ClintonTo LGBT men and women worldwide, let me say this: wherever you live and whatever the circumstances of your life, whether you are connected to a network of support or feel isolated and vulnerable, please know that you are not alone.
Hillary ClintonThe most important thing I have to say to you today is that hair matters. Pay attention to your hair, because everyone else will.
Hillary ClintonI think part of the reason Trump behaves the way he behaves is that he is a walking example of projection. Whatever he's doing and whatever he thinks is happening he will accuse somebody else of. And there are examples during the campaign when he did just that, like when he called publicly on Russia to hack my personal emails. He knew they were trying to do whatever they could to discredit me with emails, so there's obviously a trail there, but I don't know that in our system we have any means of doing that.
Hillary ClintonI think we need to do much more with our tech companies to prevent ISIS and their operatives from being able to use the Internet to radicalize, even direct people in America and Europe and elsewhere.
Hillary ClintonI hope the fact-checkers are turning up the volume and really working hard. Donald [Trump] supported the invasion of Iraq.
Hillary ClintonAfter chasing after [Donald] Trump like a lovelorn high school girl the evangelicals are in no position to ask for anything. Ever.
Hillary ClintonEveryone has some dysfunction in their families. They have to deal with it. You don't walk away if you love someone. You help the person.
Hillary ClintonSenator [Ben] Sanders and I share some very big progressive goals. I've been fighting for universal healthcare for many years, and we're now on the path to achieving it. I don't want us to start over again. I think that would be a great mistake, to once again plunge our country into a contentious debate about whether we should have and what kind of system we should have for healthcare.
Hillary ClintonI started off as a young lawyer working against discrimination against African-American children in schools and in the criminal justice system. I worked to make sure that kids with disabilities could get a public education, something that I care very much about. I have worked with Latinos - one of my first jobs in politics was down in south Texas registering Latino citizens to be able to vote. So I have a deep devotion to making sure that an every American feels like he or she has a place in our country.
Hillary ClintonI want to get the economy going again. It's not just enough about what we're against, as important as that is. I have a plan to create new jobs, manufacturing, infrastructure, clean energy jobs that will make us the 21st century clean energy super power. I also want to make sure small businesses can start and grow again.
Hillary ClintonEvery election is about the future, which by definition means it's more about the future of young people than it is about me.
Hillary ClintonI think it's important to look at what we need to do to get the economy going again. That's why I said new jobs with rising incomes, investments, not in more tax cuts that would add $5 trillion to the debt.
Hillary ClintonIf I were just to read briefing books or I were just to engage in the political back and forth, would I have heard what a big problem mental health is in New Hampshire? Would I have heard people say they're really worried about the impact on young people because New Hampshire has the highest tuition and debt problems in the country? i'm not sure I would have.
Hillary ClintonAll of our presidents come into office looking so vigorous ... They grow grayer and grayer, and by the time they leave, theyโre as white as the building they live in ... I have one big advantage: Iโve been coloring my hair for years. So youโre not going to see me turn white in the White House.
Hillary ClintonI agree with the secretary [Hillary Clinton] that I think what has to happen - and let me just mention what King Abdullah of Jordan said. I think he hit the nail on the head.
Hillary ClintonOften those who are denied rights are least empowered to bring about the changes they seek.
