I aim to write songs in a way that you don't have to have gone to Ghana to relate to it, you really just have to have a heart.
Jason MrazYou just send your love and gratitude to everything that came through the experience and you wish it the best. If you don't wish it the best, then you're only holding on to its failure, you're only holding on to something that needs something from you, whereas if you wish it the best, it's not about you anymore.
Jason MrazI get my most creative energy after a show, so I love to go back to the hotel and compose new material. I generally do it in a rush. I have to get it out, otherwise I can't sleep.
Jason MrazI had to have a lot of jobs until I was supporting myself through music, but I knew that those jobs were all leading me to something. It was all, again, about taking things one step at a time, one day at a time.
Jason MrazWhen we all sing in unison - sing in harmony - things come to us on levels that are much deeper than can be seen by the naked eye. Much deeper than even our subconscious. Things are happening.
Jason MrazSometimes touring can warp reality because you're never in one place long enough to get a feel for it. You don't interact with people long enough to know what real life is. That's why a lot of artists write songs about longing and missing people when they're on the road. I do my best to keep my mind open and I read a lot when I'm on tour, so I hope I have good things to write about. I'm constantly in the songwriting process.
