I don't need to be famous. I'm not that ambitious. At this point, if I'm not sucked in, I'm never going to get sucked in. Being the so-called hot girl, I disconnect from that. It's not that deep.

Success takes communication, collaboration and, sometimes, failure.

I had severe asthma and kidney problems and would get 105-degree fevers. I actually almost had to go on dialysis for my kidneys. I was also in the hospital for pneumonia.

My approach to wellbeing is to not be so critical and so hard on myself, and also to not think that I have to conform to other people's ideas of beauty, and to be okay with what made me feel good. I think it took me a while to get there.

It's been liberating to be able to play someone who's a bada– or promiscuous, because that's the opposite of who I am … It's like a drug.

I think the world is ready for people of color to take on more heroic and leading roles, and not always be the sidekick, the nemesis or any sort of stereotype of what a person of color can play typically in a Hollywood picture.

Good actors never use the script unless it's amazing writing. All the good actors I've worked with, they all say whatever they want to say.
