A few years ago I lost one of my dearest friends. He died at age 53 - heart attack. David is gone, but he was one of my very special friends. I used to say of David that if I was stuck in a foreign jail somewhere accused unduly and if they would allow me one phone call, I would call David. Why? He would come and get me. That's a friend. Somebody who would come and get you.

When asked to give a speech never turn it down. It is a chance to develop you and to give new insight to others

Get around people who have something of value to share with you. Their impact will continue to have a significant effect on your life long after they have departed.

You cannot speak that which you do not know. You cannot share that which you do not feel. You cannot translate that which you do not have.

Success simple disciplines, practiced every day, while failure a few errors in judgment, repeated every day. Choose to succeed.

Tyranny knows no restraint of appetite.

Although we are never glad when tragedy visits, we can be aware and seize the opportunity to do good in this world, even in the midst of tragedy.
