We not only brought peace to many countries and people around the world, but we never dropped a bomb, we never launched a missile, and we never fired a bullet while I was in office. Yet we protected the interests of the American people in a peaceful, but strong way.

You just have to have a simple faith.

Our decision about energy will test the character of the American people and the ability of the President and the Congress to govern this Nation. This difficult effort will be the moral equivalent of war, except that we will be uniting our efforts to build and not to destroy.

Always tell the truth, and take an interest in serving the people around you as much as possible.

So, I considered myself, as a submarine officer, as helping to preserve the peace. And I felt the same way when I was president.

Even for the world's only superpower, the ends don't always justify the means.
