Gay rights is not something most of us think about - because most of us happen to have been born straight.
Jodi Picoultbut if I've learned anything, it's that we don't know half of what we think we do. And we know ourselves least of all.
Jodi PicoultHere are the things I know for sure: When you think you're right, you are most likely wrong. Things that break - be they bones, hearts, or promises - can be put back together but will never really be whole. And, in spite of what I said, you can miss a person you've never known. I learn this over and over again.
Jodi PicoultThe question I hate the most is "How did you DO it - write novels and raise your children simultaneously!" I mean, do MALE authors get asked that??
Jodi PicoultThat's because you've never been one. You haven't spent years wearing someone else's clothes, taking someone else's name, living in someone else's houses, and working someone else's job to fit in. And if you don't sell out, then you run away... proving you're the Gypsy they said you were all along.
