The summit charms us, the steps to it do not; with the heights before our eyes, we like to linger in the plain. It is only a part of art that can be taught; but the artist needs the whole. He who is only half instructed speaks much and is always wrong; who knows it wholly is content with acting and speaks seldom or late.

On all the peaks lies peace.

Pain and pleasure, good and evil, come to us from unexpected sources. It is not there where we have gathered up our brightest hopes, that the dawn of happiness breaks. It is not there where we have glanced our eye with affright, that we find the deadliest gloom. What should this teach us? To bow to the great and only Source of light, and live humbly and with confiding resignation.

Nature has neither kernel Nor shell

What I possess, seems far away to me, and what is gone becomes reality.

It makes no good to point the failures out without showing at the same time the remedy to address them.

There is no past we can bring back by longing for it. There is only an eternal now that builds and creates out of the past something new and better.
