Peace is a conscious choice.

I was never trying to write a hit. I was just trying to write good songs and get a message out, and it was my great good fortune to be popular.

There's an aspect of human nature in which we want to think we're better than somebody else. They're a different color. They speak a different language. They have a different name for the Creator. Whatever it is, that makes it okay for me to hate them, to try to get some of their land or some of their resources.

Though the singer is silent…there is still the truth of the song.

Faith is a kind of knowing; it is different from hope. My faith is that life is purposeful; of that I'm sure. There is a God, there is intelligence, there is consciousness. And behind all of this, there is incredible compassion.
