From the moment I take office, I will stand up to the special interests and stand with hardworking families so that we can give America back its future and its ideals.

America now stands as the world's foremost power. We should be proud: Not since the age of the Romans have one people achieved such preeminence. But we are not Romans; we do not seek an empire. Thank you very much for contacting me to express your support for the actions of President Bush in response to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. From the outset of the invasion, I have strongly and unequivocally supported President Bush's response to the crisis and the policy goals he has established with our military deployment in the Persian Gulf.

Sunni are the majority of the [Syria], 60 to 65 percent. They've been ruled by [Bashar] Assad, who represents a minority Alawite element, which is about 12, 13 percent. And because of the choices Assad made, it's very difficult to see how you resolve this without buy-in from the Sunni world.

George Bush sold us on going to war with Iraq based on the threat of weapons of mass destruction. But we still haven't found them.

We need to talk to all the players in the Middle East, not because we agree with them, but because they play a role.
