I've always been a reformer all the time I served in public office, and remain a reformer in Ohio, but I also know how to get things done. The single biggest way to stop the drug crisis is to educate people on the fact that if you do it, it's probably going to kill you or it's going to ruin your life. So why don't we all work together to stop that?

Let me tell you what is interesting about the administration. We had Central American miners that were placed in Ohio, and we never knew a thing about it. We didn't know where they were. And, in fact, we know now that some of them, there is a case going on where some of them may have been human-trafficked.

[Barack Obama] needs to really engage both Republicans and Democrats.

I mean, I don't have any more words.I've tried to do the best I can to lead by my actions in an appropriate way without recrimination or anything like that, because I'm a very happy person. I don't think I need to say any more than what I've demonstrated.

Coalition [against ISIS] need the tools. And the tools involve encryption where we cannot hear what they're even planning. And when we see red flags, a father, a mother, a neighbor who says we have got a problem here, then we have to give law enforcement the ability to listen so they can disrupt these terrorist attacks before they occur.

If you talk to anybody who's been successful in business, they will tell you the thing that matters the most are people. And clearly, in this case, the quality of the people was not paid attention to. By the board and I don't know what they were doing. And I think there is a certain accountability by the board here.

A lot of politicians now, here's what they're worried about. If you're a Democrat you're worried about your base on the left, and if you're a Republican you're worried about your base on the right.

We got to make sure that we have the incentives for people to rise and not put them in a position of where they go to work and they lose more than what they gain and they're like this system is terrible.

I was not in favor of U.S. troops in Lebanon. And I voted against it.

I think to a degree this happens when they [russians] spot a softness in us, which I think for a while they did.

Everybody who was involved in that culture [Wells Fargo] should be held accountable.

If one of my daughters happened to be [gay], of course I would love them and I would accept them. That's what we're taught when we have strong faith.

I think it could get passed in a lame duck? Probably tough. But impossible? No, or I wouldn't be wasting my time. It's going to take some leadership, and it takes a time where leadership is more important than people's political career at times.

I don't know the extent to which they do business [ in Wells Fargo]. I just want to see how this thing continues to unfold and if they have a legitimately major change in their culture.

I just don't see anybody that's particularly interested in fixing that.

Do you think that I like to have to fight the leaders in my own party over this or that? Of course not. There's no joy in that. But John Kennedy may have said it best - sometimes my party asks too much.

Libya was a terrible mistake. You know, frankly, that's something that people ought to be thinking about in regard to Hillary [Clinton]. You know, they talk about Benghazi, which is very legitimate. Of course it is. But we should never have deposed [Muamar] Gaddafi. That was a terrible mistake.

You don't put an animal in the corner without the animal striking back, you don't put a politician in the corner and without them expecting to strike back at you.
