It's impossible to imagine the Democratic Party seeking a pro-life, free-trading, non-protectionist deficit hawk.

I will not agree to have this bill [to repeal DADT ] go forward, because our economy is in the tank.

Rogue states are the main threat to peace and freedom, and they require a strong, comprehensive policy response - a policy that I call 'rogue state rollback,' in which our goal is not simply to contain rogue regimes, but to drive them from power.

They're all tied together: taxes, Medicare, Social Security, and the debt. We've got to have a setting of priorities, and looking at it - at each of them as disconnected, I think, doesn't properly address these major challenges.

But I also want to change the dynamics of this debate, which has kept us gridlocked into positions which caused people to shoot at abortion clinics and other Americans to view it as the only issue in American politics, ... There are areas we can agree on. ... We need to work together to eliminate abortion.

The problem is that most members of Congress don’t pay attention to what’s going on.
