There are two basic restrictions on marriage in the Bible: Number one, she should marry a man. Number two, he should be a Christian.

There is a warning. The path of God-exalting joy will cost you your life. Jesus said, “Whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.” In other words, it is better to lose your life than to waste it. If you live gladly to make others glad in God, your life will be hard, your risks will be high, and your joy will be full. This is not a book about how to avoid a wounded life, but how to avoid a wasted life. Some of you will die in the service of Christ. That will not be a tragedy. Treasuring life above Christ is a tragedy.

Sin is what you do when you are not satisfied in God.

We need God in ways we do not know. Don't limit your experience of God to what you can think to ask. Ask for the unknown joy.

If we were made to watch a doctor pull off the little baby's legs and arms one by one and place them on the table like a dentist removing cotton from your mouth - if all Americans were made to see what it really is, the pro-life goal of abortion being unthinkable (not just illegal) would be much nearer.

Our obedience is God's pleasure when it proves that God is our treasure.

Sin is what you do when your heart is not satisfied with God.
