Strong impulses are but another name for energy. Energy may be turned to bad uses; but more good may always be made of an energetic nature, than of an indolent and impassive one.

The industrial economy which divides society absolutely into two portions, the payers of wages and the receivers of them, the first counted by thousands and the last by millions, is neither fit for, nor capable of, indefinite duration: and the possibility of changing this system for one of combination without dependence, and unity of interest instead of organized hostility, depends altogether upon the future developments of the Partnership principle.

In all intellectual debates, both sides tend to be correct in what they affirm, and wrong in what they deny.

The art of music is good, for the reason, among others, that it produces pleasure; but what proof is it possible to give that pleasure is good? All the moralities tell them that it is their nature to live for others; to make complete abnegation of themselves, and to have no life but in their affections.

Judgement is given to men that they may use it. Because it may be used erroneously, are men to be told that they ought not to use it at all?
