I'd be satisfied just coaching in high school. I turned down a number of colleges when I was teaching in South Bend, Indiana, before I went into the service. I honestly believe that if I hadn't enlisted in the service, I would never have left high school teaching. I'm sure I would have never left.

The most important key to achieving great success is to decide upon your goal and launch, get started, take action, move.

We almost have to force or drive ourselves to work hard if we are to reach our potential. If we don't enjoy what we do, we won't be able to push as hard as we need to push for as long as we need to push to achieve our best. However, if we enjoy what we do and if we're enthusiastic about it, we'll do it better and come closer to becoming the best we can be.

I think you have to be what you are. Don't try to be somebody else. You have to be yourself at all times.

Promise to be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit trouble to press on you.

The true athlete should have character, not be a character

Be true to yourself. Be true to those you lead.
