We should be patient in developing and strengthening our testimonies. Rather than expecting immediate or spectacular manifestations, though they will come when needed, we should pray for a testimony, study the scriptures, follow the counsel of our prophet and other Church leaders, and live the principles of the gospel. Our testimonies then will grow and mature naturally, perhaps imperceptibly at times, until they become driving forces in our lives.
Joseph B. WirthlinWe will never make a journey of a thousand miles by fretting about how long it will take or how hard it will be. We make the journey by taking each day step by step and then repeating it again and again until we reach our destination.
Joseph B. WirthlinI believe that perseverance is vital to success in any endeavor, whether spiritual or temporal, large or small, public or personal. . . . All significant achievement results largely from perseverance.
Joseph B. WirthlinLet us strive for personal, practical integrity in every endeavor, regardless of how mundane or inconsequential it may seem.
Joseph B. WirthlinOh, it is wonderful to know that our Heavenly Father loves usโeven with all our flaws! His love is such that even should we give up on ourselves, He never will. We see ourselves in terms of yesterday and today. Our Heavenly Father sees us in terms of forever. Although we might settle for less, Heavenly Father wonโt, for He sees us as the glorious beings we are capable of becoming.
Joseph B. WirthlinIntegrity means always doing what is right and good, regardless of the immediate consequences.
Joseph B. WirthlinLiving the gospel does not mean the storms of life will pass us by, but we will be better prepared to face them with serenity and peace. 'Search diligently, pray always, and be believing,' the Lord admonished, 'and all things shall work together for your good, if ye walk uprightly.'
