I get recognized just often enough to keep my ego bouncing along, but not so much that I can't go places.

When you’re telling a story, you’re trying to connect to people in a particular way … The way in which you guys have inhabited this world, this universe, has made you part of it, part of the story. You are living in Firefly. When I see you guys, I don’t think the show is off the air. I don’t think there’s a show; I think that’s what the world is like. … The story is our lives.

What you cut out becomes part of the story you tell.

Oddly enough, I never studied writing. I studied almost everything except writing.

It seemed to be a fundamental thing that women have something men don't, the obvious being an ability to bear children, and the resilience to hang in as parents. I don't understand why or how anyone ever pulled off the whole idea of "women are inferior".

I'm not a control freak - I'm a control enthusiast.
