People want the tragedy. They need things to go wrong, they need the tension. In my characters thereโs a core of trust and love that Iโm very committed to. These guys would die for each other, and itโs very beautiful. But at the same time, you canโt keep that safety. Things have to go wrong, bad things have to happen.
Joss WhedonI do listen to music. Movie scores, exclusively, because it's all about mood and nonspecificity. I love the way modern movie scoring is all about nonspecificity. You know, if I shuffled the tracks from 'Inception,' I challenge you to tell me which is which.
Joss Whedon'The Dark Knight,' for me, has the same problem that every other 'Batman' movie has. It's not about Batman. I think Heath Ledger is just phenomenal and the character of the Joker is beautifully written. He has a particular philosophy that he carries throughout the movie. He has one of the best bad guy schemes.
Joss WhedonEverything we do really is just a little marker on the long road to death. And sometimes thatโs overwhelmingly depressing to me, and sometimes it makes me feel kinship and forgiveness. Weโve all got the same ending to the story. The way we make that story more elaborate, I got to respect.
