The parent reads the book. The kid reads the book and then they can talk about the characters instead of talking about themselves. You know there's a connection even if you don't talk about it when you read the same books.
Judy BlumeI loved to read, and I think any child who loves to read will read anything, including the back of the cereal box, which I did every morning.
Judy BlumeWhat I remember when I started to write was how I couldn't wait to get up in the morning to get to my characters.
Judy BlumeI hate first drafts, and it never gets easier. People always wonder what kind of superhero power they'd like to have. I wanted the ability for someone to just open up my brain and take out the entire first draft and lay it down in front of me so I can just focus on the second, third and fourth drafts.
