I had also wanted to work with Aaron McGruder for a long time and there were a few other people on the project that I really wanted to work with,so it seems like a miracle of a project ['Black Jesus'] was handed to me.

A lot of times people hide their quirks when they're first getting to know a person.

I think that's what the most fascinating part of getting to know someone is - to see how they do things, and how their way of doing things is different from your way of doing things, and the fun of trying to do it their way and to see what value there is in looking at things from their perspective.

I've got a lot of different religious ideas circling through my family, but the positive thing is that I was raised with a lot of openness and compassion.

The great thing about television is that most things get resolved by the end of the episode. So I think a lot of people watch TV to see something of their real lives reflected on the screen, but also they're hoping for that happy ending.

I guess I'm lucky that I've been able to play a wide range of parts and a wide range of types of productions - I haven't felt much typecasting.
