In dwelling, be close to the land. In meditation, go deep in the heart. In dealing with others, be gentle and kind. In speech, be true. In ruling, be just. In daily life, be competent. In action, be aware of the time and the season.

When people see some things as good, other things become bad.

Going on means going far, going far means returning.

The sage is one with the world, and lives in harmony with it.

The more sharp weapons people have in a country, the bigger the disorder will be.

The more weapons of violence, the more misery to mankind. The triumph of violence ends in a festival of mourning.

To the good I would be good; to the not-good I would also be good, in order to make them good.
