Excellent leaders of people lower themselves.

The highest virtue does nothing. Yet, nothing needs to be done. The lowest virtue does everything. Yet, much remains to be done.

Why are the people rebellious? Because the rulers interfere too much. Therefore they are rebellious.

A good runner leaves no footprints.

If a person seems wicked, do not cast him away. Awaken him with your words, elevate him with your deeds, repay his injury with your kindness. Do not cast him away; cast away his wickedness.

These possessions of a simpleton being the three I choose and cherish: to care, to be fair, to be humble.

The Tao is told is not the Tao.
