The great Way is easy, yet people prefer the side paths. Be aware when things are out of balance. Stay centered within the Tao.

Can you be still and look inside?If so, then you know the truth is always available, and always responsive.

Does one scent appeal more than another? Do you prefer this flavor, or that feeling? Is your practice sacred and your work profane? Then your mind is separated: from itself, from oneness, from the Tao.

Do not conquer the world with force, for force only causes resistance. Thorns spring up when an army passes. Years of misery follow a great victory. Do only what needs to be done without using violence.

Man at his birth is supple and tender, but in death, he is rigid and hard. Thus, suppleness and tenderness accompany life, but rigidity and hardness accompany death.

Through return to simple living comes control of desires. In control of desires stillness is attained. In stillness the world is restored.

When the intelligent and animal souls are held together in one embrace, they can be kept from separating.
