People take death lightly. They expect too much of life. That is why people take death lightly.

Weapons are not proper instruments for gentle people; they use them only when they have no other choice. Peace and quiet are what they value. They do not glory in victory.

The Tao never does anything, yet through it all things are done. If powerful men and women could venter themselves in it, the whole world would be transformed by itself, in its natural rhythms. People would be content with their simple, everyday lives, in harmony, and free of desire. When there is no desire, all things are at peace.

When you have accomplished your goal simply walk away. This is the path way to Heaven.

If you are untrustworthy, people will not trust you.

The subtlest of subtleties, this is the gateway to all mysteries.

Without stirring abroad, One can know the whole world; Without looking out of the window One can see the way of heaven. The further one goes The less one knows.
