And other people get the opportunity to leave prison, and then they do something to get put back in there because they can't actually function in society. It's really cool because you get to see all these different women, their backstories, where they come from, their upbringing and why they get to where they get to, and they're all completely different. It's really cool that you get to see all those storylines.
Laura PreponWhen I have to do a scene where I feel vulnerable as an actress, I always grow from those experiences, so I welcome them. Even though it may not feel amazing at first. You have to embrace it and use it to improve yourself.
Laura PreponWhat inspired me was that I knew there were so many other people who were struggling with the same things I was and didn't have answers. When I finally started to heal, that was the inspiration. My body changed, my energy level changed, and my overall well-being improved.
Laura PreponFor some reason, I like to put myself in situations where I don't even know how I ended up there. I never want to be complacent or comfortable in a role.
Laura PreponSo, I went to Germany and ended up parasailing around this castle. I was in Germany sightseeing, eating Bratwurst and hanging out in beer gardens. And then, I got back from Germany and got a call where they were like, "We need to fly you to New York tomorrow to read with Taylor [Schilling]." I was like, "Wait, for Alex, the manipulative drug-smuggling lesbian girl?!," and they were like, "Yeah."
