Oh you who have been removed from God in his solitude by the abyss of time, how can you expect to reach him without dying?

God is in the water of the lake; he is also in the cracked bed of the lake when the lake has dried up. God is in the abundant harvest; he is also in the famine that occurs when the harvest fails. God is in the lightning; he is also in the darkness when the lightning has faded.

There is nothing wrapped in my turban but God.

He acts without contact, instructs without meeting, guides without pointing. Desires do not conflict with Him, thoughts do not mingle with Him: His essence is without qualification (takyeef), His action without effort (takleef).

O Lord! You are the guide of those who are passing through the Valley of Bewilderment. If I am a heretic, enlarge my heresy.

I have seen my Lord with the eye of my heart, and I said: 'Who are You?' He said: 'You.'

Other than He cannot be qualified by two (opposite) qualities at one time; yet With Him they do not create opposition. He is hidden in His manifestation, manifest in His concealing.
