To retire by the age of 35 was my goal. I wasn't sure how I was going to get there though. I knew I would end up owning my own business someday, so I figured my challenge was to learn as much as anyone about all businesses. I believed that every job I took was really me getting paid to learn about a new industry. I spent as much time as I could, learning and reading everything about business I could get my hands on. I used to go into the library for hours and hours reading business books and magazines.

Business is the ultimate sport. In business, as in sport, the one thing you can control is effort.

I just try to have a good time, enjoy my family, enjoy my life. I was having a blast when I was poor, and I'm having maybe a little bit more now that I've got something in the bank.

Always wake up with a smile knowing that today you are going to have fun accomplishing what others are too afraid to do.

Culture is very important to the Mavs.... It isn't about who talks the most or the loudest. It is about the demeanor and attitude he brings.

Treat your customers like they own you. Because they do.

It would have been easy to judge effort by how many hours a day passed while I was at work. That's the worst way to measure effort. Effort is measured by setting goals and getting results.
