The Promised Land, for many people, though, is something that's far off in the future. People are saved, but they don't feel victory. They feel like they're in a wilderness and they're wandering. And so this book of Joshua gives us a picture of how we can come out of the wilderness in our own spiritual lives and enter into a season of victory.

God would prefer we have an occasional limp than a perpetual strut.

God knows just the place where you'll be placed. He has a barren living room in desperate need of warmth and joy. A corner of the world needs some color. He selected you with that place in mind.

I think "creative preaching" is redundant.

You may go days without thinking of God, but there's never a moment when He's not thinking of you.

Are you weary? Catch your breath. Are you strong? Reserve passing judgment on the tired.

As we meditate on Christ's life, we find strength for our own.
