Nothing fosters courage like a clear grasp of grace... & nothing fosters fear like an ignorance of mercy

I have a lot of special memories with my parents but my toughest one is, I had, as a teenager, a pretty insatiable appetite for beer. The first time I got drunk my father found me throwing up in the bathroom. I was 15, maybe 16, and the disappointment in his voice, I can hear it to this day, and the sorrow that that brought to him. He just felt like a failure as a father, and Id give anything to take that day back because that was so hard on him. In time, my life got better, and his did too, but that was really memorable, one of those memories Id like to forget.

As long as you are stationary, no one will complain. Dogs don't bark at parked cars.

It was a matter of going back through a lot of sermons and remembering the questions and conversations, where these ideas came from. So the book [Max on Life] is really kind of a second chance to answer these questions.

I think there is a time, if I can say this; there is a time in a message where you might just tell a story to give your audience a break.

When a Christian stops growing, help is needed. If you are the same Christian you were a few months ago, be careful.

God sees us with the eyes of a Father. He sees our defects, errors and blemishes. But He also sees our value.
