I had my dysfunctions, but music gave me peace and joy. I never felt in tune with the world. My parents always saw me as an artist, and that greatly influenced me. My art was my autonomy.

A long term goal is to encourage students to start doing concerts in which I or the other artists will come back at the end of the school year to see their concerts.

I grabbed my drummer's cymbal in my teeth just as he crashed down on it with his sticks-I blacked out. I was a punk in those days. It was in Seattle. I still have all my teeth too, it's amazing.

I think we're heading into the Creative Age. We've passed through the Agricultural and then the Industrial and then the Information Age.

Growing up in the Northwest, I did play in an all-girl band. I snuck into clubs. No one ever questioned or thought twice about it.

I was either going onstage or going into an interview or getting on a plane. You can't really feel everything fully when you don't have the time to process.

Everything I'm doing now is something I did before, only it's bigger now.
