I have a lot to say about the world, clearly. I can't put together a clear sentence about it all, but through the work I can say what I think.

It's sort of my fun to sing along with records and imitate people who are on the telephone that have different ways of speaking.

I went to France to publicize Marvin's Room, and one really smart young woman journalist said to me, "You know, when I told people I was going to interview Meryl Streep they were so excited... all ze women in my office, they love you so much. But ze men - they are afraid of you."

Acting is not about being someone different. It's finding the similarity in what is apparently different, then finding myself in there.

That is the simple secret. Always take your heart to work.
