The theater is a place that doesn't always but can reward hard work and tenacity, unlike television.

I worked on three independent movies in close succession and I really learned from those directors how to stay on budget, make your days, get it done, keep everyone happy, which is a huge thing in a movie, and to steer the ship.

Don't feel you have to stick to plans, because something better might come up; and try to blend in, because you see more. I've learnt that the principles of moving around a big city are the same everywhere; only the people and streets are different.

We perform the show for the people that are in the room and then that performance is theirs forever and ever.

From an acting perspective, I would say that you should always try to make your own stuff. Always be ambitious about your own projects and always know better than anyone else what you're good at.

I think a lot of women would like to eat like a man, especially on a date. But they're probably afraid to. But a guy would love to see a woman with a healthy appetite. They love seeing women with a healthy appetite.

I would have to say the most challenging thing about directing is the sheer stamina because... as a director, you're always doing something. Someone always needs to talk to you. There are always decisions to be made and every day for as long as the movie goes on. So it's a marathon... You don't have to look nice, but it's all day every day.
