In recent years, we have seen the United States back away from pressuring the Castro regime, under the misguided view that placating them with an open hand would yield progress. That naivete has invited only more cruelty and oppression in return.

Tomorrow we begin a new tomorrow.

Today's misery is real unemployment, home foreclosures and bankruptcies. This is the Obama Misery Index - and it's at a record high. It's going to take more than new rhetoric to put Americans back to work - it's going to take a new president.

But I am pro-life and will intend, if I’m president of the United States, to encourage pro-life policies. I've seen a lot of government try to solve problems, and it didn't work. And my view is that the right course for America is to have someone who understands how the economy works who will passionately get America back on track.

I like American cars. And I would do nothing to hurt the U.S. auto industry.
