In my younger days, I was arrogant - jail helped me to get rid of it. I did nothing but make enemies because of my arrogance.
Nelson MandelaThe time has come to accept in our hearts and minds that with freedom comes responsibility.
Nelson MandelaLike all Xhosa children, I acquired knowledge mainly through observation. We were meant to learn through imitation and emulation, not through questions. When I first visited the homes of whites, I was often dumbfounded by the number and nature of questions that children asked of their parents-and their parents' unfailing willingness to answer them. In my household, questions were considered a nuisance; adults imparted information as they considered necessary.
Nelson MandelaLet us remind ourselves that our work is far from complete. Where there is poverty and sickness, including AIDS, where human beings are being oppressed, there is more work to be done. Our work is for freedom for all.
