I think Donald Trump needs to set a direction that allows people who are deeply opposed to Obamacare to realize it's gradually going to be reformed and rethought.

We in this House are role models. People all over the world watch us and study us. When we fall short, they lose hope. When we fail, they despair.

I'm moderately optimistic. We Americans are an enormous country with more than 300 million people so there's reason for optimism.

Rethink every aspect of bureaucracy.

Maybe we need a tax credit for the poorest Americans to buy a laptop. Now, maybe that's wrong, maybe that's expensive, maybe we can't do it, but I'll tell you, any signal that we can send to the poorest Americans that says, 'We're going into a 21st century, third-wave information age, and so are you, and we want to carry you with us.'

Well, I think that there's a clear record, I worked with Ronald Reagan in the early '80s and his recovery program translated into today's population of about 25 million new jobs in a seven-year period. As Speaker of the House, I worked with President Clinton and he followed with a very similar plan. And we ended up with about 11 million new jobs in a four-year period.
