I feel very much a part of what I'm writing about, and I'm writing about things that concern me on a daily basis. I'm not really interested in writing musical diaries, if you know what I mean.

People think I'm a miserable sod but it's only because I get asked such bloody miserable questions.

When I start writing songs, and they come easily, I'm always very suspicious. That usually means they're reminding me of something I've already done before. Sound doesn't always have to be heard. Sound can also be created by how a pattern is set up on a surface- how it moves across the surface, how light reflects the surface [and] can generate a feeling. Sound can also be through feeling, through color, through texture.
