It's very easy to fall in love when things are great, but the way to really fall in love is when things aren't great.

For me, my storyline [in Big Little Lies] is very complicated and nuanced. [The script] was so beautifully written. It was very, very easy to play. ... I think one of the scenes is almost eight minutes.

Actors have to protect each other in a way. The idea of humiliating another actor or being humiliated myself is devastating.

If I ever feel that this is dangerous or I'm scared of it, then that probably draws me more towards it.

LIfe has got all those twists and turns. You've got to hold on tight and off you go.

Deep down am I superstitious? No. Do I believe in trying to be as kind as possible and as compassionate as possible because ultimately you're alone with yourself and your own conscience, and you want that to be as clear as possible?
