If we pray only because we want answers, we will become irritated and angry with God. We receive an answer every time we pray, but it does not always come in the way we expect, and our spiritual irritation shows our refusal to identify ourselves truly with our Lord in prayer. We are not here to prove that God answers prayer, but to be living trophies of God’s grace.

The lasting value of our public service for God is measured by the depth of the intimacy of our private times of fellowship and oneness with Him.

Prayer is God's answer to our poverty, not a power we exercise to obtain an answer.

We are built for the valley, for the ordinary stuff we are in, and that is where we have to prove our mettle.

The Sermon on the Mount is not a set of principles to be obeyed apart from identification with Jesus Christ. The Sermon on the Mount is a statement of the life we will live when the Holy Spirit is getting his way with us.
