Watch your motive before God; have no other motive in prayer than to know Him.

Don't plan without God. God seems to have a delightful way of upsetting the plans we have made, when we have not taken Him into account.

We must build our faith not on fading lights but on the Light that never fails. When 'important' individuals go away we are sad, until we see that they are meant to go, so that only one thing is left for us to do--to look into the face of God for ourselves.

There are certain things we must not pray about - moods, for instance. Moods never go by praying, moods go by kicking.

Do we so appreciate the marvelous salvation of Jesus Christ that we are our utmost for His highest?

There comes the baffling call of God in our lives also. The call of God can never be stated explicitly; it is implicit. The call of God is like the call of the sea, no one hears it but the one who has the nature of the sea in him. It cannot be stated definitely what the call of God is to, because his call is to be in comradeship with himself, for his own purposes, and the test is to believe that God knows what he is after.
