Style is besides the point. Nobody would pay attention if one always said the same thing, in the same words and the same tone of voice.

Abstract art is only painting. And what's so dramatic about that? There is no abstract art. One must always begin with something. Afterwards one can remove all semblance of reality; there is no longer any danger as the idea of the object has left an indelible imprint.

You don't make art, you find it

Without great solitude no serious work is possible.

To know what you’re going to draw, you have to begin drawing... When I find myself facing a blank page, that’s always going through my head. What I capture in spite of myself interests me more than my own ideas.

As an artist, all I need is my paints and brushes - and someone to drag me away when the canvas is done
