Time is not something that can be measured with a pendule. Time is something that we build together within a tribe, a family, a region.
Paul VirilioIf we consider my latest book, Strategie de la deception, what we need to focus on are the other aspects of the same phenomenon.
Paul VirilioThe territorial body has been polluted by roads, elevators, etc. Similarly, our animal body starts being polluted. Ecology no longer deals with water, flora, wildlife and air only. It deals with the body itself as well. It is comparable with an invasion: technology is invading our body because of miniaturisation.
Paul VirilioThe ideals of technological culture remain underdeveloped and therefore outside of popular culture and the practical ideals of democracy. This is also why society as a whole has no control over technological developments. And this is one of the gravest threats to democracy in the near future. It is, then, imperative to develop a democratic technological culture.
