As I read the Bible, it seems clear that God satisfies his "eternal appetite" by loving individual human beings. I imagine He views each halting step forward in my spiritual "walk" with the eagerness of a parent watching a child take the very first step.

We should be asking: How do we respond to a post-Christian society?

Misunderstanding must be nakedly exposed before true understanding can begin to flourish.

...to see that God does answer, in great things as well as small, the prayers of those who put their trust in Him will strengthen the faith of multitudes.

... learning humility is a prerequisite for grace.

Augustine started from God's grace and got it right, Pelagius started from human effort and got it wrong. Augustine passionately pursued God; Pelagius methodically worked to please God.

When I am tempted to complain about God's lack of presence, I remind myself that God has much more reason to complain about my lack of presence.
